ABOUT

ABOUT ME AND MY WORK

WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU

The therapeutic relationship is a place where two human beings can connect on a deeper level to what we may experience in some aspects of day-to-day life, and to really begin to unpick the challenges that the person may be experiencing. The chance to sit with another person, to talk, be free from judgments, in a safe and non-threatening environment can be truly life changing. It is an opportunity to feel seen, heard and understood without the therapist having an agenda for how they would like the client to be. They will meet you where you are at and be with you as you are.

Through therapy, the client, with the help of the counsellor, can begin to bring into awareness the challenges that they are facing, as well as beginning the stages of processing those challenges, getting to know and understand their emotional landscape, and look at how the client can integrate this newfound awareness into their day to day lives.

I can offer you the chance to feel free to explore whatever it is that you wish to bring to your therapy sessions. I work in an integrative way, which means that I do not believe one size fits all. I work in the way that is best for the client I am working with at that time, depending on their needs and what they hope to get out of their therapy sessions. I integrate a range of therapy modalities which include Person Centred, Gestalt, Mindful based CBT and Attachment Theory.   I will guide you through the challenges you feel you are facing in your life, and help you begin to really get to know and understand yourself, in a way that perhaps you haven’t been able to before.

EXPERIENCE

Through my years of training, and vast amount of experience of working as a counsellor, I believe I will be able to offer you a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space. I have many years of experience working as both a counselling tutor, teaching level three certificate in counselling, and level four counselling diplomas, as well as working as a full-time counsellor.  I have worked as a counsellor in a music college, in a service providing counselling for survivors of sexual violence, in schools, both primary and secondary, and in my own private practice, as well as working as a specialist mental health mentor for students at university.

My specialist areas of interest, in which I have gained further training, are trauma and trauma- focused work. Throughout my training, and the years that have followed, I have spent an extensive amount of time studying trauma and the effects childhood developmental trauma can have on a person. As well as my additional study and interest in working with trauma, I have a vast amount of experience of working with young people and adolescence, which include counselling young people in the care system, and working as a school counsellor for over three years.  In addition to this, I have extensive experience and further training in working with survivors of sexual violence. I have experienced, first hand, what a significant difference counselling has made to my own life, and I truly believe counselling has the potential to change people’s lives in the most profound of ways.
